There is still no official news from Naughty Dog regarding “The Last of Us 2” but this does not stop talks about the highly anticipated game sequel. It can be remembered that the developer’s creative man, Neil Druckmann, has previously stated that they could only give their full attention to it after the release of the downloadable content (DLC) of “Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End”.

Druckmann further revealed that he and his co-director Bruce Straley have already started brainstorming for the stories of “The Last of Us 2” even before they started working on the single-player DLC for “Unchartered 4: A Thief’s End”. He also teased that they have prototypes for the highly anticipated sequel which involve the original protagonists, Joel and Ellie. But, they also are toying with the idea of starting the game from scratch.

Other ideas from the brainstorming for “The Last of Us 2” aside from the original one include those for a sci-fi game, ideas for a fantasy game and building prototypes for each added Druckmann in an interview last year. However, just as they were about to make their choice, the two directors were asked by Naughty Dog to work on Unchartered 4.

Even with these revelations about "The Last of Us 2, fans remain hopeful that there will be more of Joel and Ellie’s story to be told. They were intrigued and hooked with the two characters’ story and the fans would very much welcome if the sequel will continue exploring their world.

On the other hand, “The Last of Us 2” fans appreciate the fact that Naughty Dog is not simply resting on the laurels of the original game’s success and in fact is willing to take the necessary risks to delight fans with a sequel they would highly appreciate. By now, the game developer should have started their work on the sequel since Unchartered 4 was rumored to be released on December 3 at the Playstation Experience (PSX) in Anaheim, California.
