"Shadowhunters" Season 2 is set to feature the various challenges of beloved characters as they deal with the aftermath of Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) actions in the Freeform series' first season. Latest spoiler news also hint of the Simon (Alberto Rosende) suffering a "devastating" moment in Season 2, while Clary will be torn between her mundane life and her new life with fellow Shadowhunters.
The second season of the Freeform series "Shadowhunters" will pick up a few hours after Jace left with Valentine (Alan Van Sprang). Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jace's storyline will also remain as a central part of the TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare's "Mortal Instruments" books.
Despite Clary's introduction into the Shadowhunter life, the said character will have a hard time trying to go back to her life as a normal young girl. In an interview with MTV, showrunner Darren Swimmer teased that Clary will be at a crossroads in finding her true home in "Shadowhunters" Season 2.
The said plot development is part of Swimmer and co-showrunner Todd Slavkin's decision to feature core characters making "really difficult, moral choices." Slavin added that Season 2 of the Freeform series will bring to life some of the darker elements featured in Clare's books. He stated, "It's a little darker, but it's still light and fun."
With Clary and Jace both trying to deal with their own challenges, other characters such as Simon will also have a difficult time adjusting to his new life in "Shadowhunters" Season 2. Clary's friend is set to encounter a "devastating" moment where he will want to go back to his family but would be unable to return to his old life.
Meanwhile, the upcoming "Shadowhunters" Season 2 premiere titled "This Guilty Blood" will feature the arrival of a new Clave leader for the New York Shadowhunters, as well as Clary and her friends "desperate" attempts to find Jace, according to episode spoilers posted on Spoiler TV. Clary's mother Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) will also get a crash course on Clary's adventures while she was under the sleeping spell.
