NBA 2K14 – Everything you need to know

NBA 2K14 is the newest basketball simulator from California-based Visual Concepts and 2K Sports. While the game is already out on the likes Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, NBA 2K14 will also hit the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as a launch title.

In a previous developer diary video, 2K Games had announced that the company is looking to add features that will arrive as potential game changing features for the new title. All these changes are related to updated players, rosters and lifelike real-time stats update.

For example, as the video (see below) suggests, if a player is out of form in mid-season in real life, the same will be reflected in the video game, and vice versa. And this is also same for stats and player injuries.

With every passing year, developers try introducing something new to the game to make it even more realistic. This involves the addition of new in-game features, new tweaks, etc.

Similarly, the developers have introduced a brand new game mode called "Path to Greatness," which brings two separate player controlled career modes for Miami Heat forward LeBron James. The mode has players follow up on James' progress through the current career that will later head over to a fictional future.

Players here will progress via a series of different scenarios that they will need to play to further the career. But this doesn’t mean that you have to play a full game to achieve that. You also have the option to play just a section of a particular match.

However, the ultimate goal will be the same for both players involved – win five more NBA titles to finally top the record set by the legendary Michael Jordan.

Additionally, the crew mode has also made its return with NBA 2K14 after a disappointing yet exciting start in NBA 2K11. Although the crew mode was an exciting prospect in 2011, the whole idea fell apart due to shoddy game servers. This year however, all that is about to change with the revamped crew mode set to focus on a more competitive gameplay via a server that actually works, alongside the introduction of a leaderboard.

Also, there’s a short mode called “Continue Heat Dynasty” that offers even more focused gameplay. This mode offers 10 different scenarios which are then divided into seasons with LeBron personally introducing the player to each season via a voice over to assist in the journey toward greatness. The player will continue controlling the entire team, and not just LeBron.

Fans who have already pre-ordered the game are entitled to a limited edition pre-order DLC pack. This add-on content includes 10,000 VC (virtual currency) for in-game purchases alongside signature skills for the returning My Career mode.

While we are expecting some more new development in the in-game team roster with a future DLC, as of now, players can access the following 14 teams – as far as Euroleague is concerned:

Alba Berlin (Germany)

Anadolu Efes Istanbul (Turkey)

CSKA Moscow (Russia)

EA7 Emporio Armani Milano (Italy)

FC Barcelona (Spain)

Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul (Turkey)

Laboral Kutxa Vitoria (Spain)
