Bragi Dash Latest News & Update: Software Upgrades Still Can’t Fix The Its Biggest Problem?

The winner of the "Wearable Tech Awards 2016" is still having problems with stable connectivity despite successive firmware updates. The Bragi Dash offers an optimistic preview at a smarter wearable future with its 23 embedded sensors. Bragi bestows the promise of a fitness coach, a health aid, and a connected digital assistant combined into one gadget.

Back in the day of the Dash Kickstarter, the guys at Bragi have declared that they would advance the capacity and features of their innovative wireless earbuds with regular firmware updates. However, the biggest problem is that it's challenging to keep a solid Bluetooth connection between the earbuds and the phone.

Bragi Dash: Better In Some Conditions, But Not All

Recently, Bragi has pushed another update -- the version 2.2 that targets to enhance Bluetooth performance. Indeed, Bluetooth connection improved indoors, which is something that was never really possible before. However, when taken out in an open environment, connection is still weak.

According to Verge, earlier this year, Bragi released versions 2.0 and 2.1 of the software. The company added features like the ability to save workouts and improve heart rate tracking. When paired to a phone, the companion app allows a tweak to Dash's settings and monitor workouts and health data. However, streaming music has remained problematic and the Dash still had trouble maintaining a basic connection.

Another thing that's changed in the 2.2 update is that Bragi is trying to move some of the interface controls off the earbuds themselves. A few weeks back, the company teased the idea of tapping the cheek to activate the phone's digital assistant, instead of blindly trying to strike the touchpad on the earbuds themselves.

This is the first feature of the "kinetic user interface" that Bragi wants to roll out to the Dash in the coming months called "MyTap," Engadget reports. While it doesn't solve a huge problem, it's a good enough idea that is interesting to see how it evolves.
