The release date of the game in the West was announced during the PlayStation Experience 2016.

The action RPG of "Nier: Automata" in production by Square Enix in partnership with Platinum Games arrives on March 7 for PlayStation 4. Also during the event, was revealed a new trailer for the continuation of the original game of 2010 and the information that a demonstration. "NieR: Automata" tells the story of androids 2B, 9S and A2 and their battle to regain a dystopia dominated by powerful robotic weapons known as "mechanical life forms." It seems like, the developer wants to test the Beta version in Japan before releasing it worldwide.
