NBA 2016-17 Latest News & Update: Golden State Warriors & LA Lakers Predictions That Never Happened

NBA is teeming with surprises, so as the league approaches a fourth of this season there were predictions that went awful - busted as inaccurate. Is is now the opportune time to round up some of these predictions that can be dismissed as baseless, taken into account the current development in the NBA.

Make no mistake about it, storms are hard to predict. Especially the kind of storm that is NBA where even season analysts and game aficionados have high tendency to fail. We will try to dissect two teams that stepped with mixed doubts and confidence during the preseason - Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.

Going with the Warriors first, it is no other that team general manager Bob Myers that predicted potential "turbulence" with the team when it signed Kevin Durant. Myers referred to Miami Heat experience in 2010 when it mixed Dwayne Wade with Chris Bosh and LeBron James. The three powerhouses found it hard to cohabitate the Heat and went awry in their first 20 games.

However, Golden State did a fine job after just 3 losses and is now considered a great scourge in the NBA. Durant fit seamlessly with the squad and even became an early MVP candidate. Klay Thompson made constant assault and so is Stephen Curry. Not only that Golden State have the Splash Brothers to bombard from the distance but Durant as well improved his lethal rate to 42% from the three-point arc.

Now about the Lakers, Kobe Bryant retired and everybody predicted a disastrous season. Everybody forget that rookie coach Luke Walton should also be taken into equation. Yes, the Lakers are still scrubbing but what is unfolding is far from disaster. Coach Walton is easing his way from 10-10 start and hopes are still alive. Perhaps it is young player D'Angelo Russell who could make a difference if he recovers in time to salvage the team.
