Company of Heroes 2 News: Free Content Upcoming - DLC, World Builder, and More

Company of Heroes 2's New DLC Offers Two New Multiplayer maps, and Other Features

Relic and Sega’s newest real-time strategy title Company of Heroes 2 is getting added bonuses. The game is set to receive new free DLC called Turning Point, which is said to offer a number of items like World Builder feature created via the game’s community.

While the DLC offers The World Builder feature, a highly requested community feature enabling players to design and share their own “epic” multiplayer maps for Company of Heroes 2, the content is also offering two new multiplayer maps: the industrial "Rails and Metal," and the urban "Lazur Factory."

"We are excited to provide such a large content update to Company of Heroes 2 players," said Greg Wilson, Executive Producer at Relic Entertainment, via an official press release. "We are particularly proud to offer our community the much sought-after World Builder and are hoping to provide Steam Workshop integration and other mod features in the near future."

Apart from that, the content is also offering four new Commanders with two per faction and offered for both the multiplayer and skirmish modes. One Commander from each faction was designed by members of the Company of Heroes 2 community.

The company also states that more information on the 'Turning Point' update will be detailed all through this week on the official site. The game was earlier in news back in June when it was revealed that the real aim with Company of Heroes 2 is to offer a intuitive experience for what was one of the biggest battles in WWII in the eastern front, and also that it’s massiveness and brutality is what that stands out for the game.

Company of Heroes 2 has been built on Relic's proprietary Essence 3.0 engine, which showcases new improvements compared to Relic's previous games. One of such improvements has arrived in the form of TrueSight, which is a new line-of-sight technology with an aim to better emulate troop visibility in real combat.

While the game takes advantage of DirectX 11, it also supports DirectX 9. The game also utilizes Valve's Steamworks technology with matchmaking and achievements. And as far as in-game strategy mechanics is concerned, the game retains the traditional Company of Heroes formula.

Company of Heroes 2 saw a June 25 worldwide release.
