The "Tomb Raider" reboot release date isn't until two years from now, but it's safe to say that it looks like the film is shaping up to be a good one. The latest news surrounding the upcoming Alicia Vikander movie is that they've found the actor to play the villain.
The news comes via Variety, which reports that "The Hateful Eight" star Walton Goggins is already in final talks with Warner Bros., MGM, and GK Films to take on the yet-unnamed villainous role in the film. The "Tomb Raider" reboot is set to be helmed by Roar Uthaug, and will be produced by Graham King under his GK Films label.
Gamespot reports that while "The Hateful Eight" star Walton Goggins is yet to sign on, he already has a busy schedule as of the moment. His latest big screen appearances come via 2015's "Diablo," "American Ultra," and "Mojave." He's also set to star in the HBO's new offering, "Vice Principals."
As of right now, no light has been shed on the villainous role Goggins will play in the 2018 "Romb Raider" reboot, but the upcoming Alicia Vikander movie seems to be shaping up pretty nicely. In contrast to the 2001 and 2003 "Tomb Raider" films that starred Angelina Jolie, the 2018 reboot will see a younger Lara Croft.
The upcoming Alicia Vikander movie will see her in the titular role, as she journeys to find her father. According to King, the film will feature a "back to the roots story," in which Lara Croft finds out the truth about her father. Uthaug shared that the goal for him as a director is to create the character as a "real human being" who people can relate to.
