UFC News: Ronda Rousey Comments on Amanda Nunes’ 1st Round KO Prediction

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has made no secret of her intentions to end her UFC 207 fight early, predicting a first round knockout win against Ronda Rousey. In a rare TV appearance this year, the former champion responded to the Brazilian’s bold claim.

“Yeah, well she kind of has to say that because everyone knows she gasses out in the second. She has to tell herself that, ‘It’s gonna happen first round.’ What else is she gonna tell herself?” Ronda Rousey said during at an appearance on “Conan.”

Ronda Rousey also implied that she would not be doing the usual media obligations like she did in the past. UFC pay-per-view event headliners are usually subjected to a ton of media appearances to promote their fights.

“I don’t really have to. I’ve done a bit of learning in this last year and I’ve learned that the views I get or the money I make really doesn’t mean anything for me or my happiness. Now that I know the women’s division is secure, I don’t have t do that anymore. I choose not to,” Ronda Rousey said.

Following her UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm – the first of her professional career – Ronda Rousey has been recluse, choosing to stay out of the spotlight for much of the year. “It’s not really something that I get a kick off of. Like, ‘Ooh, I want to spend 12 hours at ESPN and talk s--- all day.’ That’s not really what I want to do. I want to play World of Warcraft,” she added. Rousey also commented on her fighting future, saying that while she doesn’t think she’ll be retiring after UFC 207, it will “definitely be soon.”

After losing her title to Holm, Ronda Rousey appeared to break down mentally, telling Ellen DeGeneres at her show that she thought about suicide and that she had lost her sense of purpose after the defeat. Rousey and Nunes headline UFC 207 on Dec. 30.
