Call of Duty: Ghosts News - Activision Blizzard Selling Call of Duty Dog Tags for Charity

Activision Blizzard Selling Call of Duty Endowment Dog Tags, All Proceeds Go to Charity

Activision Blizzard announced today that it will be selling limited edition dog tags alongside Call of Duty: Ghosts. While sales of the game, which passed the $1 billion dollar mark in its first day of availability, go right in the company pocket, sales from the tags go directly towards the Call of Duty Endowment, a non-profit organization established by Activision Blizzard with the aim of helping veterans find work once they're back home.

"With the sale of Call of Duty Endowment dog tags last year proving so successful, it only made sense for us to give the Call of Duty community another chance to get involved and show their support for our nation's veterans," said Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director of the Call of Duty Endowment, in a press release. Activision Blizzard managed to bring in $1.7 million from the sale of dog tags when Call of Duty: Black Ops II released.

"With our nation's youngest veterans continuing to face unemployment at a much greater rate than their non-veteran counterparts, the work of the Call of Duty Endowment is more important than ever. But with the support of Activision and the Call of Duty community, we can continue supporting our veterans as they face the challenges of transitioning to the civilian workforce."

The dog tags will be sold in more than 12,000 stores across the country, including; GameStop, Costco, Walmart, Toys R Us, Best Buy and Target, available at the suggested retail price of $4.99.

Call of Duty: Ghosts takes place in a near future following an attack from space that leaves Los Angeles virtually wiped out, and the United States' infrastructure devastated. Years later, the country is invaded by a new superpower, a conglomerate of South American nations calling itself the "Federation." What's left of America's special forces have come together to form the titular "Ghosts," and it's up to them to wage guerrilla warfare against the Federation in order to protect what remains of the United States, and drive the Federation out.

Beyond the campaign, gamers are also expecting a lot from the game's multiplayer mode, which promises a slew of different customization options for weapons, character camos, and more. Over 30 new weapons have been confirmed, alongside old favorites like the UMP45 and the M4A1.

Players are able to peek around cover while still being able to fire, automatically mantle objects, and customize their character. Players are also able to activate environmental hazards, rather than the hazards automatically activating without player interference. It will also allow players to do some hidden sub-missions which will result in new twists in the campaign storyline.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is out now for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Wii U. It will be available as a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when the consoles release later this month.
