'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, Latest News and Updates: George R.R. Martin to FInish Novel for GOT Season 7 Airing; Dark Chapters Coming

A big question for "Game of Thrones" fans is if novelist George R.R. Martin will release "The Winds of Winter" prior to the airing of the hit TV series next year. The writer also recently gave a hint on what they can expect for the next book release.

George R.R. Martin has told his fans that he is extremely busy finishing the novel. He claimed that his public appearances for next year will be limited telling fans that it would be better to catch him before the year ends.

Finishing the novel before GOT airing

His statement could be an indication that he is indeed targeting to finish "The Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" comes out in 2017. The novel's earlier release will avoid GOT spoiling things for readers of Martin's next masterpiece.

In a recent interview, "The Winds of Winter" author also teased that things will not be what the fans expect them to be in the next novel release. He claimed that the book will explore dark times and show readers what "winter is coming" really means.

Plot details

"Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for," Martin explained. "Some of the characters [are] in very dark places."

He went on to say that fans should expect worse case scenarios for most of the characters in the novel. Martin added that this is a common plot in any story: people need to experience the bad first before tasting what is good and better.

Martin also noted that he does not plan on telling people how he will end his series of model but said that it could be mix of happy and bittersweet. What do you expect from the upcoming "The Winds of Winter" release?
