Google Daydream View News & Update: Google’s VR Headset Gets Netflix, HBO; More VR Games In Store Plus Two New Colors

Google's Daydream VR platform just got even better with new apps like Netflix and HBO, support for more phones, VR games and limited edition colors for the Daydream View HMD. The next two variants of its VR headgear are Crimson and Snow, both now available.

Daydream was introduced in May as a VR ecosystem for mobile. Google's aim was to reach the market between the low-end Cardboard and premium VR HMDs that's priced hundreds of dollars and require mid-tier or high-end PCs. The platform allows easy access to VR apps available at the Play Store, while Google Daydream View HMD offers a more stylish take on VR headgear.

Along with the new hues, Google also announced new Daydream View games and apps arriving at the headset's digital marketplace. Included in the recent update are Netflix, HBO Go and NextVR. NextVR allows users to take in sports and concerts right from the center stage or the sidelines. NextVR and HBO Go are now Daydream View-ready, although Netflix will arrive on the headset before the year ends.

Google Daydream View now houses "Gunjack 2: End of Shift," "Layers of Fear: Solitude," "Wands," "Underworld Overlord" and "LEGO BrickHeadz Builder VR," the latter of which made exclusively for Daydream. Since September, companies have had access only to the non-beta version, making the latest expansion a welcome change, reports Tom's Hardware.
