'The Flash' Season 3 Theory: Julian Desmond's Philosopher Stone Comment Connected To Ongoing 'Harry Potter' References In The Series?

'The Flash' Season 3 Theory: Julian Desmond's Philosopher Stone Comment Connected To Ongoing 'Harry Potter' References In The Series?

An ongoing "The Flash" Season 3 theory was recently confirmed when it was revealed that Tom Felton's Julian Desmond is actually Doctor Alchemy. However, an interesting "Harry Potter" reference was made in the midseason finale "The Present", which features Julian talking about the, ahem, Philosopher's Stone.

The scene from "The Flash" Season 3 certainly appears to be a not-so-subtle reference to Tom Felton's past playing Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" film series. However, some fans were also quick to notice that the reference to the Philosopher's Stone is another addition to the ongoing "The Flash" tradition.

'The Flash' Season 3 Teases Philosopher Stone Reference, Just Another 'Harry Potter' Tribute In Ongoing Series Tradition?

It's really not a secret that the CW series loves J.K. Rowling's book (and film) series. In the second season alone, there were two awesome "Harry Potter" references which involved former baddie Hartley and the forever geeky Cisco Ramon. The episode "Flash Back" had several references to the books, but the most memorable one was when a Time Wraith attacked STAR Labs, making Hartley cry out, "Holy Harry Potter!"

A more hilarious reference involves Earth-2 Harrison Wells and Cisco Ramon in "The Flash" Season 2 episode "Rupture". Harry orders Cisco to get his wand and Cisco asks if he means the one created to fight the Weather Wizard. Harry retorts that no, he meant the one Cisco made for the "Harry Potter" convention. Cisco retreats, asking how Harry knew about that particular wand.

'The Flash' Season 3 Set For More 'Harry Potter' References?

There is little doubt that the writers will continue adding more "Harry Potter" references in "The Flash" Season 3. In addition to that, most of these little Easter eggs could be directed at Tom Felton's character Julian Desmond. The midseason premiere will air on The CW on January 24, 2017.
