PlayStation 4 and Vita Bundle On the Way

Sony Confirms PS Vita and PS4 Bundle for Christmas

Despite the denial from retailers, but given the Vita's ability to act as a second controller for the PlayStation 4, we really should've seen this one coming. Sony has confirmed that the PS Vita and the next-gen PS4 will be sold together as an "Ultimate Bundle," and just in time for Christmas.

MCV was the first to report the news, saying that in addition to the bundle, Sony was about the launch a new television campaign to promote the Vita, and its ability to connect with the PlayStation 4 as "The Best Way to Play."

“We’re really excited for Vita as we move into Christmas,” said senior product manager Ben Law. “We’ve got a great campaign with key messaging around new releases like Tearaway, the ever-growing game catalogue and the Remote Play service.”

Shortly thereafter, Videogamer's Dave Scammel posted a tweet showing the bundle, seen in the picture above. According to Scammel, the bundle is dated to release in early December. There hasn't been any official pricing details released, but rumors that surfaced over the summer  had the bundle pegged for $500, with Inside Gaming Daily claiming at the time to have been told by a "well-placed anonymous source" that a bundle containing the two consoles would release at "the end of the year." The timing certainly works out, so maybe the price will too.

Sony's handheld currently sells for $200 - $250 depending on the version sold and retailer. With the PS4 already going for $399, a $500 bundle wouldmake the Vita a steal by offering it for a mere $100 compared to buying the system alone. The bundle would also give Sony a serious edge on competition against Microsoft's Xbox One, which already sells for the same amount. Microsoft also doesn't have a handheld device to offer a similar deal.

ALready available in North America, with Sony set to launch its PlayStation 4 in the rest of the world at the end of this week, expect the compny to offer more news on this bundle soon. We'll keep you posted if they do.
