Better Storm Communication Tools Be Introduced During 'Let It Snow' Hackathon Hosted By The City Of Seattle

On Thursday night, the first ever snowfall of the season was experienced by the people of Seattle. The government announced that it will conduct "Let It Snow" hackathon on Dec. 15, 2016 for the benefit of the people of Seattle. Developers and designers could share ideas on how to improve communication during such condition.

"Let It Snow" will be hosted by the city of Seattle and this is to ascertain better storm communication tools. Geekwire reported that participants will be given a chance to transform the City's data into useful tools that could provide information to people every time they will need it. Seattle aims to tap its technically-inclined talent pool, who are no stranger to the city's weather needs.

The event is said to include an introduction to be led by Mayor Murray. The snowstorm response plan of the City, the Winter Weather Map and other data will be revealed during the workshop. It will also have a two part workshop that aims to surface ways on how Seattle could meet the information needs of the residents.

In fact, the city's police department also invited some people to check video streams that were recorded by them. In order to encourage businessmen to fix their transportation, the city also put up a Hack the Commute event in 2015.

According to Digital Trends, the event is a community design workshop. It will start on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the event will happen in Open Seattle at Substantial, 900 E. Pine, Suite 202, in Seattle.

The main focus of the group is to find solutions on a certain civic problem through the use of technology. Anyone can go to Eventbrite site to register and participate in the workshop. The space will be limited for 30 participants only but there will be beverages, snacks and other materials needed.
