Amy Schumer News: Comedienne Hits Back at Barbie Body Shamers; Online Trolls Missing Point of Schumer Casting for Live Action Family Comedy

When it came out that Amy Schumer was being considered for a movie role of Barbie, the household name for the famous Mattel doll, a whole lot of Internet users came out to express their opinion about how the choice was most inappropriate. Many of the words cannot even be printed on adult media. However, the actress came out to address these body shamers who she says are "in more pain than we will ever understand."

Hitting back at her detractors in her characteristic display of humor and personal strength, she wrote on Instagram, "I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice ... We need to laugh at the haters and sympathize with them ...They can scream as loud as they want. We can't hear them because we are getting sh*t done ..."

Amy Schumer as Barbie became a chance for online trolls to have an excuse to body shame someone who movie producers and creators themselves are actually considering to play the role. Never mind that these trolls may not even watch the movie. But the comedienne calls them that which is "wrong with our culture."

What many of these detractors and fault-finders do not seem to get, which Schumer is getting back at them for, is that the movie on Barbie is meant to deliver the message of empowerment to girls and women all around that they do not need to fit a certain mold to be considered acceptable and beautiful in society.

The first live-action film on Barbie has been called an "imaginative family comedy with a heart." Schumer is expected to re-do the original script by the Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. The story is about a Barbie who does not quite fit the traditional and expected moldand thus gets thrown out of Barbieland to make her way through the real world. The cast out Barbie later returns to her land to share the lessons she has learned in the outside world where the real people are. The film will release in theaters on May 12, 2017.

Possibly the best way to describe what the movie is going to be all about is through Schumer's own words: "I am proud to lead by example. I say if I'm beautiful, I say if I'm strong. You will not determine my story. I will."
