Battlefield 4 News: Title Update Hits PlayStation 4 Versions, Aims to Increase Stability and Decrease Crashes, Double XP Weekend Starts

Problems for PS4 Versions of Battlefield 4 May be Over as DICE Has Rolled Out a Title Update

Whether EA chooses to believe it or not, Battlefield 4 hasn't been faring well on the PlayStation 4. Fans have been reporting the game is utterly broken, thanks to repeated crashes. However, that may be a thing of the past, as DICE has released a title update for the game that the developer hopes will decrease the amount of crashes and increase game stability.

No details on what was behind making the game so problematic, only that DICE will "will continue to increase stability going forward." You can read the Title Update's complete list of changes below, courtesy of Battlelog:

- Fixed common crashes that could occur when changing weapons or maps
- Reduced the probability of a corrupted save file in the single player campaign
- Fixed a crash occurring when resuming the single player campaign
- Fixed a bug where accessing PlayStation Plus subscription resulted in a connection error
- Improved performance when shooting at destroyed Levolution objects

DICE has also announced a Player Appreciation Double XP event. It starts this Thursday, ensuring a lot of gamers stuffed to the rafters with turkey and stuffing will at be plopped down in front of their televisions, pants unbuckeled and mouths stained with gravy.

The event is something of an apology for all the problems players have been experiencing. Announcing the event earlier this week, DICE General Manager, Karl Magnus Troedsson, wrote, "While some platforms have had only minor problems, others have had more than their fair share of issues. Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority. In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets - and exceeds - your expectations. It is the right thing to do."

The event goes through to next Thursday, December 5. All players will be rewarded with Double XP for each multiplayer match they compete. Once the event is over, all players who log in to multiplayer will earn a M1911 pistol scope. "This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4," Troedsson described.

Battlefield 4 stars a new protagonist to the series, that of Sergeant Daniel Recker, a member of the elite Tombstone Squad. He and the squad learn that an Admiral is in the midst of planning a coup to overthrow the current Chinese regime, with Russia ready to back him up.

You don't have to be an expert in foreign relations and politics to realize this would cause one hell of a domino effect that would see the whole planet embroiled in war.

The game is currently available for PlayStation 3 and 4, PC, and Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The China Rising DLC is expected to arrive this December, and will be exclusive to the Xbox platforms for 30 days. Still no word on a release date for the Second Assault DLC.
