More Morse Code and Mixed Messages From the Supposed Fallout 4 Site, Bethesda's Pete Hines Denies any Impending New Game Announcements

Fallout 4 Speculation Ramps Up as Survivor2299's Counter Ticks Away

We still have no idea exactly what TheSurvivor2299 is all about, but someone is hard at behind the scenes to ensure it's constantly changing. There's a new bit of gobbledy gook and morse code on the site to keep anticipation high.

The new message reads "AK: {REV _____ 5120} [CPS] PASS {LOC BB YEAR LET} - | H EY XHWHD OF GXSIHS EVE, ZFR G'K ATGEVY ROCL'JM QEOX. GTJX ZSFF QRETYHA HWEUHG WG VKKP HHWE. MCCCZNU SQ UUE VMXECEDCZ. MFE BNMC NEGE QLZCR TP MZ MR YUOG ACBSM."

The code was cracked by folks with some serious Dan Brown skills. According to IncGamers, "the Alphabet Key was THQGN (an undeciphered part from a code back on 1 December, written in reverse) and the Passphrase was ONENINEFOURSEVEN." The site also noted that the pass phrase is the same year that Boston's Berkeley Building was built, so there's another possible Beantown reference, and by proxy, another Institute connection. Translated, the message reads as:

"I am sorry to inform you, but I'm afraid they're dead. Your life support system is just fine. Welcome to The Institute. The only safe place to be in this world."

As for the morse code, it's another bit of shorthand: "CLG BR EMRG IS OVR WE AR OTNB WT AMO STH ATK CMP WA DD N WY OU ALL UNT CD 5120 EVAC XYZ YUR NXT"

Based on the content of previous messages, the inhabitants of Reddit's Fallout thread figured the message would read as "Calling Black Row: Emergency. It's over. We are outnumbered, without ammo. Something attacked camp with a DD. No way out. All units: Code 5120 Evacuation. XYZ You're next."

So...there's that.

When the clock ticks down, no one's quite sure what will happen, but IGameResponsibly's Dylan Zellmer has found something interesting. Going through the site's code, he discovered portions pointing to the idea that a video would be embedded in the site. He writes:

"First off a div titled 'vid-count' holds the infamous countdown we've all been drooling over. In my eyes naming a div 'vid-count' is a crystal clear indication that there's going to be a video embedded there at some point. There's also a curious bit of JavaScript on the page that further supports the fact that a video will find its way to the forefront when the countdown ends. A cookie check that and an age verification script is sitting right underneath the surface. The age verification is very similar to what you'd see on YouTube. Between the countdown, the dive titled 'vid-count' and the age verification code, it's completely logical and inevitable that we'll see an M-rated video of some kind when the countdown hits zero."

As per tradition, Bethesda's been tight lipped on the Survivor2299 site, never confirming or denying its authenticity. Like with Skyrim DLC, the company line seems to be "we do not comment on rumors and speculation."

As you may not know, Spike's VGX show begins at the same time the site's counter completes, prompting the idea that perhaps Bethesda would use the show as a platform to make some kind of Fallout announcement. However, Bethesda's talking head Pete Hines dismissed that idea, tweeting, "No, folks. I am not going to VGX. Bethesda is not showing/talking about anything at VGX. Just some PR meetings in LA. Take deep breaths."
