If we follow the pattern by which Maxis release "The Sims," it will be on 2019 before we see a brand new "The Sims 5". Of course, that's if the game developer pushes through with the sequel. One of the things they're looking at, is the current ranking of "The Sims 4." Despite the game maintaining a fairly increased number of players, it's not enough to consider it as a success and a basis for sequel.

In a previous report by GameNGuide, Maxis said, the fate of "The Sims 5" will depend on the success of "The Sims 4". As practical as it may seem, the followers of the franchise would want to see "The Sims 5' in the future. But if the current version is not bringing any money, it's tough continuing through the project.

Maxis producer Grant Rodiek confirmed that, "The Sims 5' will depend on how "The Sims 4" will fare in the market. Unfortunately, one of the things that makes The Sims fail big time in the market is its availability only on PC and Mac. The limited platform where "The Sims 4" is available makes it harder for Maxis to extend their scope to more players, who other wise use console and other gaming platforms.

Meanwhile, fans also doubted how "The Sims 4" sold 5 million copies in one year and a half, while The Sims 2 recorded a total of 6 million copies sold in its lifetime. Unbelievable as it may seem, producer Dave Miotke responded on the comment saying "Top selling PC game last year. :) But hey, who trusts numbers? What's your gut say?" has this been the norm in tracing whether "The Sims 5" is really coming?"
