Assassin's Creed Sequels Coming: We Could Be Treated to Two New Titles in 2014

Two New Assassin’s Creed Titles Said to be Under Development at Ubisoft

Ubisoft, as it seems, has quite a few things going under the hood,  with the company trying to make the most out of its massively successful Assassin’s Creed franchise. Now, according to reports, it has been revealed that the company is planning for not one, but two Assassin's Creed console titles that could arrive next year.

Speaking to Examiner in a recent interview, Ubisoft Sofia producer Momchil Valentinov Gindyanov stated that there’s “definitely a possibility” for multiple Assassin’s Creed titles to arrive by 2014.

As revealed by Valentinov Gindyanov, while one of the titles is currently under development exclusively for current generation systems like Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U, the other one is said to be in development only for new consoles including the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

“Contacting sources familiar with these projects, it has come to fruition that Ubisoft has two Assassin's Creed titles planned for 2014; one being a next-gen (PlayStation 4/Xbox One) exclusive while the other designated for the current crop of now last-generation consoles (PlayStation 3/Xbox 360),” the report states.

“The source also mentioned that the series is under a massive re-scope, but couldn't elaborate any further.”

While we are not really sure as to when and with what kind of a setting these titles will arrive, there may be some kind of evidence garnered for both the games via a previous report that stated that the next Assassin’s Creed game could be set in ancient Egypt.

Only recently did Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag director Ashraf Ismail, while in an interview with Examiner, revealed that an ancient Egypt setting for the future game in the franchise could be on the cards.

Ismail stated at that time: “History is something that is rooted in all of us; we all have a deeper connection to it. So there's a lot of interesting periods and time places we haven't been to that I would to see.”

And while Ismail didn’t comment anything specifically about the next setting for the future Assassin’s Creed game at that time, he did reveal that “one day I would love to explore Egypt as a setting for this game.”

“Ancient Egypt could be a really cool place. We have a really cool explanation for how we can do this, and it is with this Animus device that allows us to go to anytime in history.”

The last Assassin's Creed game in the franchise, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, released on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, and Wii U.
