Snapchat, an image messaging and multimedia mobile application, recently announced a Group feature for to start chats with up to 16 friends. Users can see who's present in a group chat at the bottom of the screen and are given the option to start a private chat by selecting individual friends' names.
Just like with regular snaps and chats, they will disappear after 24 hours by default and can only be replayed once. If user doesn't open them in time, they're also gone. In group chats, users will see the names of the group's members. Clicking on a name will initiate a one-on-one conversation outside the group, and quickly swiping back will return users to the group chat.
Snapchat Offers More Features To Latest Update
In addition to the update today, there are also two new Creative tools to customize stickers by either cutting them out from a photo with the Scissors function, or using a Paintbrush to draw cat ears and whiskers on selfies. Nothing says Happy Holidays like a group snap to friends with hand-drawn Santa hats, shares The Verge.
Competitors Keeping Up With Snapchat
The new update for Snapchat is available now on the App Store and Google Play. If the app is already the installed, the user just has to make sure it's on the latest version before trying to add someone to a Group Chat, writes BGR. As Instagram Stories continue to engage in a war with Snapchat over ephemeral messaging, filters and creative tools are simple ways Snapchat can stay ahead- at least up until Facebook gears its MSQRD live filter app on to Instagram.
