"Shameless" Season 8 release date is definitely coming. Emmy Rossum was reported to have finally settled a pay raise issue setting the stage for a "Shameless" Season 8 premiere.
Actress, singer and songwriter Emmy Rossum and producers of the series Warner Bros TV finally reached an agreement over wage details, the main issue that had Rossum reluctant to do another season, reports Deadline. Under the new terms, the actress is reported to receive the same pay with her male co-star William H. Macy, ensuring that a "Shameless" Season 8 release date will finally happen.
Previously, the producers offered a higher quote for Macy, a scheme that Emmy Rossum viewed as unfair. Rossum initially asked for a higher rate than Macy citing more screen presence in the series' episodes lately, with the resulting impasse temporarily putting "Shameless" Season 8 in jeopardy. To Macy's credit however, the actor managed to get three Emmy nominations and even won a SAG Award for "Shameless."
Asked for his opinion on his co-star Emmy Rossum's demand for an equal pay, William Macy has nothing against Rossum's fight for equality, reports Daily Mail. Macy said that it is about time that studios recognize actresses for their effort, further adding that Rossum works hard as he does and therefore, deserves it. With a "Shameless" Season 8 air date already assured, Macy will continue to play as the alcoholic Frank Gallagher, father to Rossum's character Fiona Gallagher.
While Showtime is yet to confirm of a "Shameless" Season 8 renewal, Emmy Rossum has already revealed that it is indeed coming. In a Twitter post, the actress revealed her happiness at being able to continue playing Fiona, adding that production for the eighth season will be starting by May, 2017.
