NBA Trade 2016 Latest News & Update: Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder Scramble To Get Rudy Gay From Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings are expected to trade off Rudy Gay soon and all that could happen anywhere between now and February 2017. Gay has made it known that he will opt out of his contract and the Kings aren’t likely to get him to re-sign.

Several teams have expressed interest in Gay though nothing has gained ground. The Indiana Pacers are one but the latest reports point to two rival Western Conference teams – Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder, NBC reported.

Both teams could get a big boost with Gay’s scoring. The Rockets could use a penetrator and wing player while the Thunder need to get someone in to help out Russell Westbrook. Seeing how both teams seem bent on making the playoffs, adding Gay makes a lot of sense.

For the Kings, it is all about making sure they don’t end up empty-handed. They would do well to see what happened to the New Orleans Pelicans who lost Ryan Anderson last year. At the time, Anderson already made it clear that he was not coming back, CBS reported.

The same case technically applies to Rudy Gay. The Kings don’t look like they can pull something off to keep the scoring forward from leaving so the best they can do right now is to try and get something before he is eventually lost. The question is what.

Getting wing players could be an option for the Kings. From the Rockets, some players they could be interested in include Corey Brewer or perhaps Trevor Ariza.

As far as the Thunder is concerned, the Kings could be interested in adding Cameron Payne or even Kyle Singler. Sacramento did previously show interest in Payne before the guard got bit by the injury bug.

Pair up any (or all) of those players with some draft picks and the Kings may just bite. The NBA trade deadline is still two months off so keep a close eye on Rudy Gay trade talks.
