‘Vikings' Season 4: Showrunner Teases Lagertha's Death as Kattegat Queen

Lagertha is in danger from Aslaug's sons when "The Vikings" Season 4 returns for its succeeding episodes. Lagertha may have successfully taken back Kattegat and become its queen, but she faces the scorn and spite of Aslaug's sons in return.

Series creator Michael Hirst talked about the epic "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 13, "Two Journeys," in a recent interview. He said that the episode meant to show Lagertha's strength as a Viking warrior and as a leader. However, that episode also marks the start of Lagertha's other worries, specifically Aslaug's sons.

To recap, "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 13 saw Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) take back what was taken from her. She led her army and stormed through Kattegat. She demanded to take back Kattegat from Aslaug and she succeeded.

"You took my husband and you took my world. And I'm taking it back," Lagertha told Aslaug in "Vikings" Season 4 Episode 13.

Aslaug dropped her sword and surrendered. Lagertha may now be the new Queen of Kattegat when "Vikings" Season 4 returns for its succeeding episodes. She may bask in her new power and richness. Of course, Lagertha is happy with her achievement.

However, not everyone is glad that she has taken back Kattegat. Michael Hirst teased what happens next to Lagertha after she took back Kattegat from Aslaug. He said Lagertha is sure going to make some enemies in "Vikings" Season 4.

The showrunner said not to count Aslaug's sons Ube, Sigurd and Hvitserk out among those who will take Lagertha down in "Vikings" Season 4. They are especially not pleased with the events. Instead, they have vengeance on their mind. They want Lagertha to pay for overthrowing their mother.

Regardless, Hirst said that Lagertha is fully aware of the threat she faces with Aslaug's sons. She is not afraid, since she has come prepared to die in the hands of Aslaug's sons.

"She really is a Viking, she believes in fate. If it's her fate to be killed by one of the sons of Ragnar, which the Seer actually tells her in due course that it is, that she'll accept it," Hirst told Screener TV.
