‘The New Celebrity Apprentice’ News & Update: Show Premieres Jan. 2 With New Host Arnold Schwarzenegger; Apprentices Include Boy George, Laila Ali

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is the new host of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” when it premieres on Jan. 2, 2017, on NBC. Besides the change in host, venue also has changed to Los Angeles for Season 8 of the reality show where celebrities compete for their favorite charities.

Among the 16 celebrity apprentices of “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” according to NBC, are Laila Ali, the daughter of boxing icon Muhammad Ali, Culture Club lead vocalist Boy George, celebrity stylist Carson Kressley, comedian Jon Lovitz and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards. Advisers include billionaire Warren Buffett, supermodel Tyra Banks and actress Jessica Alba.

Emerging Technology Hub

With Silicon Beach – an emerging technology hub - as the new headquarters of “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” the challenges that the 16 celebrity apprentices would compete would be business-driven tasks that focus more on technology and innovation. While testing their ability to work together as a team, the celebrity apprentices would need to raise funds and awareness for their selected charities.

Host Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the four executive producers of “The New Celebrity Apprentice.” The season’s winner would be named Celebrity Apprentice and have a $250,000 check donated to his or her chosen charity.

New Catchphrase

Besides the change in host and new board, “The New Celebrity Apprentice” would no longer use the catchphrase “You’re fired,” at the end of each episode as what former host Donald Trump, now U.S. president-elect, did.  The show was placed on hold when Donald Trump entered the presidential race. However, despite his win, the 45th president of the U.S. would still remain an executive producer of “The New Celebrity Apprentice.” Arnold Schwarzenegger, who promoted the reality show on NBC’s “Today Show” on Thursday morning, urged Americans to “stop whining,” set aside partisan politics and support the new president even if they voted for Hillary Clinton, CNN Money reports.
