‘Survivor 33’ Latest News & Update: Adam Klein Wins, To Donate Part of $1M Prize To Cancer Charity In Honor Of Mom

There is a lot of drama in the reality survival show “Survivor” on and off camera as participants shift alliances, experience hardships and betrayal from tribe mates and struggle to win the $1 million prize. However, in “Survivor 33” – held in Fiji – the biggest drama happened after the winner was declared and got home.

It happened in San Francisco, California, the hometown of “Survivor 33” winner Adam Klein who came home with the $1 million prize. He took the first flight home after the end of the final tribal council to check on his mother Susie who had stopped treatment of her stage IV lung cancer, US Magazine reports.

Pulling Out Was Not An Option

Adam Klein said that he did not have an idea of the sad news he would discover when he goes home because after Susie stopped the treatment, she became stronger. Even if she was ill, Adam Klein pulling out of “Survivor 33” was not an option because it was his childhood dream and her dying wish that her son win, according to Just Jared.

However, one hour after he got home from the finals of “Survivor 33,” Susie died. Adam Klein believes she held on because Susie only started to decline on the night the final Tribal Council was aired and he was already on his way home. “I believe she waited for me,” said the new millionaire who would donate $100,000 of his prize money to Stand Up to Cancer to honor his mother’s legacy.

Heavy Favorite Since Day 1

Since “Survivor 33” started to air on Sept. 21, Adam Klein was the heavy favorite to win, however, on Day 10, he dropped to second place with a revised 4/1 odds, while fellow Takali tribe member Ken McNickle of Denver, Colorado, became the new favorite.

Buddy TV wrote that Adam Klein is a deserving winner of “Survivor 33,” but among the final three, he may not be the most deserving. Although Hannah Shapiro played a better game, Adam Klein was still the right person to win by doing what many players of the reality survival game overlook – that is to manage the jury better than other castaways.
