Zelda Four Swords Free Download This Weekend for 3DS

Download The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords For Free on Your 3DS

Nintendo may have fallen on hard times recently but it still loves us all. How else can you explain their decision to give away The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition for free on the Nintendo 3DS?

This isn't the first time it's been available for free but it's been almost two years since it's been available. Head over to the Nintendo eShop right now on your 3DS and you'll see it featured right in the front. Get there quickly, however, because as you can see via the image above this deal is only good this weekend through February 2nd.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords was released for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005, the first multiplayer Zelda game ever released. You needed a friend to play it, linking with at least one more friend with a GBA with the included link cable. Nintendo offered this new Four Swords: Anniversary Edition back in 2011 for a while and it was a big it, with gamers loving reliving the game and the new levels based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening. One big change is that there's a single player mode so you don't have to find a friend to play it, and playing with a friend can now happen wirelessly, instead of requiring a link cable. Technology!

This is the perfect throwback for anyone who's just played through The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which has the distinction of being not only one of the finest 3DS games yet created but one of the best games of 2013. You can play Four Swords with up to three friends but each person needs their own copy, so get your buddies to download it too while they can.

A free Zelda game, folks. What are you waiting for?
