Uber Self-Driving Vehicle Banned On California For Not Acquiring Testing Permit; Google's Self-Driving Cars Set To Outpace Uber?

Uber Technology has again opposed a request to California regulators to apply a permit to test the self-driving cars that setting up a conceivable fight in the court. The ride-services firm publicly revealed about the self-driving vehicles that it will remain on the road, and emphasized its disobedience of an order from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to "stop" the operations.

YAHOO TECH stated that Anthony Levandowski, VP of Uber's Advanced Technologies Group said that they were conscious and cannot help but to contradict with California Department of Motor Vehicles legal understanding regarding of today's self-governing regulations. The California Attorney General wrote a warning letter to the Uber, asking to instantly remove the 'self-driving' vehicles from the state's roadways until the company conforms the regulations. Otherwise, the Attorney General will look for alternative alleviation for Uber.

California law defines that self-driving vehicles are not equipped for driving without dynamic physical control or monitoring, Levandowski said. However, California DMV requires the company to apply for a test of self-driving vehicles and they will receive the permit. They added that the manufacturer will also provide accident reports to California DMV.

According to FORTUNE, Ubers Advance Technologies Vice President Anthony Levandowski rejected the California DMV's recommendation that Uber was attempting to skirt the accident exposures. Levandowski said that they believe that the most important part is building a trust and understanding. He added that the main issue does not have any significant to them.

Nevertheless, there are 20 companies who are explored on self-driving vehicles like Alphabet's Google, Tesla, and Ford. These self-driving vehicles have acquired California DMV's permit for 130 test vehicles. Although these vehicles are on the road for over a month, Uber has not yet. As for the notion that Google's self driving cars are slated to replace Uber and its services, that rumor has already been debunked.

The question is the most recent in a long line of spats amongst Uber and the regulators, and in its disobedience. Uber is gambling a fight in court in its home state. In a letter to Uber, the California DMV's chief of advice said to the office that they will begin initial legal action if Uber will not affirm immediately, the launch will stop and look for a testing permit.
