Putin Presidentially Punked in Flappy Bird Parody Vladibird

Try the Next Winter Olympic Event - Vladibird

The Winter Olympics are in full swing over in Sochi, Russia, where the bathroom doors for the world's finest athletes are apparently constructed from balsa wood and spit, but this being a video game site and all, we're not here to talk about that. With the Olympics in high gear, someone has taken the immensely popular sports event and combined it with another recent talk of the net.

The Flappy Bird clones just keep on coming, but a recent one has a bit more of an edge to it than another featuring an infamous Jim Henson puppet.

Vladibird is the brainchild of staff of "The Ideal World," a satirical news program that could be considered the Dutch equivalant of "The Onion" or "The Daily Show." As the name alludes, the controls and basic premise are the same as the infamous Flappy Bird, but with the Russian President taking the place of the eponymous foul, and instead of the player guiding him through pipes lifted from the Mushroom Kingdom, players must steer Putin towards proper gaps in towering pillars of hairy man ass.

No, that's not a joke.

If Putin crashes into a single stray hair or dingleberry, then it's lights out for the President. The same goes if he flies too low, as merely grazing the audience also spells doom for the politician, and all among the backdrop of Sochi with the Olympic audience gazing from the background all the while.

The obstacles are obviously a tongue in cheek (and I won't say what kind), reference to Russia's loving policy towards its homosexual population (apparently non-existent in the Sochi's third of a million strong population), and Putin's decision last year to sign a law banning distribution of "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations" among minors, making it effectively illegal to hold any gay pride events, speak in defense of gay rights, or say that gay relationships are equal to heterosexual relationships.

While the game is obviously in jest, I think it still takes a lot of balls to satirize a guy who is not only a leading political figure, but who's also a former lieutenant cornel in the KGB, and whose various bouts of machismo make Metal Gear Solid 3's Colonel Volgin quiver in his panzy, Communist red booties.
