Battlefield 4's Second Assault DLC Releases Today on PS3, PS4, and PC for Premium Players [VIDEO]

Second Assault DLC for Battlefield 4 Now Available to PC and PlayStation Premium Players

As announced last week, today's the day for Premium players to get their hands on the second DLC for Battlefield 4, Second Assault. Xbox One gamers had an exclusive with the DLC back in late November, but their time with it was brief, as many players were quick to report that soon after the DLC's release, they were unable to download it.

Up until this point, Battlefield 4 had had more than its fair share of bugs, but this pushed it over the edge. In early December, publisher EA announced that it was halting work on all of the game's future DLC and a number of other "future projects" until the game could be "fixed."

At the time, an EA spokesman gave the following statement:

"We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game - it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we're not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We will not stop until this is right."

Now, after countless patches and updates, it looks like DICE is happy enough with the game that the DLC is good to go, and information on the next DLC, Naval Strike, is already starting to come to light.

To recap, Second Assault is the second DLC to arrive for Battlefield 4 following China Rising. It sees the return of the Capture the Flag mode, and offers four redesigned Battlefield 3 maps: Caspian Border, Gulf of Oman, Operation Firestorm, and Operation Metro. You can get a closer look at the maps here, where each is thoroughly dissected in its own respective video.

Each map has its own Levolution event that changes the way they're played and experienced: Caspian Border has a giant tower that falls down, creating a bridge to previously inaccessible areas; Oman has a sandstorm that both severely limits player visibility and brings down a crane; Operation Metro features a working elevator system; and Firestom's giant pipeline can be destroyed, resulting in a giant fire hazard.

Joining the DLC's maps are 10 new assignments, and some returningBattlefield guns - the F2000 bullpup and AS Val Soviet assault rifles, M60E4 machine gun, GOL sniper rifle, and the DAO-12 revolver-style shotgun. Gamers can also ride around on the new Desert Patrol and Skid Loader vehicles.

Non-premium players get access to Second Assault in two weeks on March 4. Check out a TV spot for the DLC below.
