Microsoft recently released an updated for the Xbox One that allows users to experience faster downloads, especially those with Internet connections of 100 mbps or higher. The move is set to provide greater ease for game downloads, which can take several hours to finish due to large file sizes.

A post from the Xbox support website elaborates that users with 100 mbps Internet connections or higher can experience 80% faster downloads. Those whose Internet connections are lower than 100 mbps need not to worry, as the update can still speed up downloads by up to 40%. Microsoft emphasized that download speeds, while faster under the update, will still depend on the service quality provided by ISPs.

Moreover, Techno Buffalo reported that the update enables Xbox users to experience improvements for background downloads. According to Microsoft, the update makes "background downloads more resilient to intermittent connectivity issues." That, of course, translates to smoother gaming experiences as downloads take place in the background.

Nonetheless, Microsoft emphasized that downloads made while the Xbox One is idle are definitely much faster compared to background downloads, saying that "system resources are prioritized for gameplay over background downloads." That, of course, is understandable, given that the console itself may only take as much to accommodate the expansions sought by the upgrade.

Furthermore, the update also introduced enrichments to other components of the Xbox One. CloudPro noted that the update improved the wireless controller's firmware for stronger performance, enhanced music streaming in the background, and made the console generally more stable.

Just days before the download-boosting update, Xbox One started supporting cloud computing app Dropbox. Users are now able to access their files uploaded on the app - the first one to make itself available on the console. Tech Crunch has reported that the app comes with an all-new interface for the console, making it easier for users to access their content. Coupled with the update, good times are set to roll for the console's faithful. Watch out for more exciting updates on the Xbox One.
