Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition Announced, Brings Updated Mobile Version to Consoles [TRAILER]

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition Announced

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has just sent over an announcement trailer for Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition, a revamped version of the Vita and 3DS hit. Batman Arkham Origins was a big success when it hit last year, although reviews were a bit mixed. While consoles got a game that was very similar to the last two in the franchise, mobile gamers were gifted with one that tried something different. Unlike the open world of its console siblings, Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate offered up 2.5D Metroidvania-style gameplay and was quite well received.

It wasn't a big stretch for the series- the console versions take the baisc Metroidvania style and update it to an open world, after all, where you have to find new gadgets in order to unlock new areas- but the mobile version feels much more like a classic in the genre. Vita and 3DS owners got the upper hand for once, and now the console owners can find out what they missed.

This Deluxe Edition won't be a straight port, as it will come with many updates. It will feature enhanced high-definition graphics, a new map & hint system for improved navigation and objective tracking and 5.1 surround sound. It will also come with a new suit, an 'Zero Year Batsuit' skin which is unlocked by registering for or signing into a Warner Bros. ID (WBID) account.

The game is a prequel to the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and is set inside a prison. The official line- "After gang-fueled uprisings occur within the walls of Blackgate Prison, Batman is called in to restore order and put an end to the rebellion before the chaos implodes. As the story progresses, players will explore deep inside the bowels of this remote island penitentiary and discover what happened after the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and learn more details of the Dark Knight's past."

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate: Deluxe Edition will hit on April 1st (Holy fools, Batman!) for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.
