Call of Duty: Ghosts Getting New Weapon as DLC - The Ripper [VIDEO]

Sleek New Weapon Coming to Call of Duty: Ghosts as DLC

UPDATE - The Ripper Releases Today for Season Pass Holders on Xbox One and Xbox 360 Only

DLC map packs are great, don't get me wrong, but more and more it seems like they're re-hashes of old favorites from games gone by. But know what is good? A shiny new weapon, and that's whats in the cards for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

With the new patch that just hit the game on all platforms yesterday, a PC user took to peeking through the code, happened across some images of the upcoming rifle and shared them with CharlieIntel.

While set in the future, the game's plot left soldiers with considerably "older" weapons at their disposal. Based on its appearance, the Ripper does not fall into this category. A light machine gun with a pop-up computerized scope, this is one sleek piece of hardware.

It somewhat resembles the PDW-57 from Call of Duty: Black Ops II, save for what is perhaps the most interesting physical aspect of the weapon - the curved clip below the stock, ensuring there's nothing bulky to get in the way of handling it. But there's a lot more it than just its looks. Based on the clip's size, expect this thing to be able to spit out a whole lotta lot lead. Check out the teaser trailer below.

While it hasn't been formally announced, with Onslaught offering its own extra weapon, the Maverick sniper-assault rifle combo, expect the Ripper to be included with the next scheduled DLC, Devastation. The usual timed Xbox exclusivity period will likely follow.
