After successfully sealing the passage she is left behind, but Riku and the king decided to go back and rescue her. Sora is later revealed to have failed his training as a Keyblade master and advised to seek a certain individual who has suffered the same loss.
The ending of "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" reportedly suggests that Riku, Mickey and Aqua will become the secondary team in "Kingdom Hearts III," While Sora continues his team up with Donald and Goofy.
