'Overwatch' Gameplay: DICE 'Game Of The Year' Debunks Spider Tank Theory

"Overwatch" class-based multiplayer phenom took home the foremost award at the 2017 DICE Awards. The game also won the Outstanding Achievement in Game Design and Online Gameplay award. In the meantime, several teasers have been revealed about the game's recent hero, Efi.

Two of The Best Awards Go To "Overwatch"

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences presented awards to several titles in the video game industry recently, with Blizzard taking home the Game of the Year award for "Overwatch". It should be noted that "Overwatch" had several strong contenders this year that included Nathan Drake's final adventure in "Uncharted 4" along with the latest entry in the "Battlefield" franchise and Indie Gem's "INSIDE." Furthermore, "Overwatch" also won the "Action Game of the Year."

On the other hand, the Outstanding Technical Achievement was presented to "Uncharted 4." In addition, the game also won Outstanding Achievement in Story and Animation. The "Overwatch" competitor was also named the Adventure Game of the Year, Breitbart reported.

Furthermore, the Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction was presented to "INSIDE" as well as the award for Art Direction and the DICE "Sprite" Award. Note that the latter is a new accolade noting that the game has disproportionate resources for development and exposure, representing a higher degree of risk tolerance and advances in the video game industry with innovative gameplay and experiences.

While "Overwatch" got the Game of the Year award, the Handheld Game of the Year went to "Pokemon Sun and Moon." It should also be noted that "Civilization VI grabbed the "Strategy Game of the Year."

Latest Information On Efi Set to Climax Soon

In other news, the "Overwatch" producer Jeff Kaplan has debunked rumors of the spider tank theory as well as the notion that Doomfist may be the new hero. On that note, Kaplan announced that "Overwatch" will see Efi create a new hero. Note that Efi Oladele is the 11 year old robotics prodigy from Numbai--the location of the Unity Celebration.

"Overwatch" developer revealed that Efi's goal would be to build something to keep them safe, like the OR15. It is said that Efi plans to use her award grant money to create something special, VG247 reported. However, later on the OR15 defense robots get destroyed. Teasers also reveal that Doomfist's gauntlet goes missing and the hologram of the gauntlet has also disappeared. Watch a livestream reaction to the new GOTY awardee below:
