Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare Free DLC Released, Watch the Humorous Trailer Here [VIDEO]

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare DLC Garden Variety Pack Released Watch the Trailler Here

The first DLC for Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, which we wrote about when it was announced yesterday, is now available for free through Xbox Live. The Garden Variety Pack DLC adds a new "Gnome Bomb" game mode, loadout options, and a new map, all of which they've shown off in the ridiculous launch trailer below.

The trailer for the DLC is amusing, done in the style of an infomercial with an excited, echoing voiceover trying to sell you on the content and footage of the new features. We get a brief glimpse of the new map Chomp Town, some of the 24 new abilities in action and uh, zombie pirates. Their role isn't exactly clear, but who says no to zombie pirates?

All of this is free, so it goes without saying if you own the game, go ahead and download it now on either the Xbox 360 or Xbox One. You won't find anyone complaining about getting a new game type (the 8v8 Gnome Bomb), map, or content for free, especially when the full game is only priced at $40 normally.

I'm glad that they didn't charge $60 for the game, acknowledging that there isn't as much content as some full-priced titles. Reviews and hands-on experiences have been generally positive though, so with reduced price and free DLC, the game comes recommended if you want a less serious shooter experience.

Titanfall it may not be (though you'll find many-a-thread on Reddit wondering if Respawn's game has enough content to justify a $60 price tag), but there's plenty of fun to be had. I haven't played it myself, but having enjoyed the original tower defense games it's good to see they kept the fun and humorous style alive here.
