Gamestop Reports Nintendo Switch Restocks Sell Out Within Hours

Gamers still continue to encounter stock shortages of the Nintendo Switch since its launch last March. Nintendo has been reportedly trying to restock as many units as possible but the demand continues to rise. Gamestop has shared some information about the sales performance of the latest Nintendo flagship gaming system. It seems that fresh socks of the new console get sold out within hours, according to the video game retailer.

While it is certainly good news for Nintendo and Gamestop, consumers trying to get a Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, consider it bad news. Game Rant, notes that Nintendo has already bumped up production of the console but it continues to sell out pretty fast. Some consumers are reportedly worried that the company might follow in the NES Classic Edition's footsteps and won't have enough stocks in time for the holidays.

The information was reportedly shared by Gamestop's Senior Director of Merchandising, Eric Bright. He apparently told Forbes that the demand for the Nintendo Switch is "exceeding our expectations." He noted that the company already "knew it would be a high-demand product, but our Switch allocations are selling out not in days, but in hours." Bright also explained that customers really had to be vigilant to be able to secure one for themselves as soon as restocks become available.

Last week, Nintendo revealed their sales number for the Nintendo Switch and it has moved almost three million units since its launch. The high demand for the portable-hybrid device obviously means it won't taper down anytime soon. Gamestop continues to expect great sales of the game system for some time. A lot of critics also credit the great sales performance of the Switch to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild". The game has received awesome ratings from a great number of critics so far.

Just recently, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima shared that more unannounced titles will further increase Nintendo Switch sales, reports Gamenguide. "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" was recently released, it received great reviews and pushed more console sales. Gamestop is not the only retailer that is struggling with restocks of the game system. Even online retailers burn through their inventory as quickly as new shipments arrive.
