Plants vs. Zombies 2's Far Future Update Out Tomorrow, March 27

EA Offers Details on Additions for Plants vs. Zombies 2's Far Future Update

One year left 'til Spielberg is proven to officially be a liar if I don't get my self-tying shoes atop a hoverboard, and while I wait patiently inside a busted DeLorean, Plants vs. Zombies 2 players should celebrate they're not in the same retro ride, because the future is now. Well, actually, it's tomorrow, but...never mind. Come March 27, PopCap's mobile tower defense documenting the endless war between expectorating embryophytes and flora munching maggot beat is getting new content...from the future!

According to a post from publisher EA, tomorrow's the day when Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time gets the Far Future update, which adds in new zombies, plants, and a map. EA didn't offer all the inclusions coming courtesy of the update, but did share info on three of the eight new plants, and six of the ten new zombies (seen above).

The first new plant is the charge shot fruit, Citron. The orange pile of pulp takes a while to ready itself, but when it does finally belt out a shot, it can deal a lot of damage, especially in the Future levels, where it "does a lot of damage to the Mechs...such as the Robo-Cone Zombie and the Disco-tron 3000."

The Laser Bean is similar to the basic Peashooter, but its blast hits any and everything in its row. Its shots can "pierce through Shield Zombie's shield, which is a great way to defeat them."

Finally, the Star-Fruit functions in an opposite manner to the Laser Bean, shooting out stars that will fly all across the board, hitting zombies in every row. We'll keep you posted if EA offers details on the remaining plants and/or zombies.
