In Car Mechanic Simulator 2021, players can restore cars that are available in the game, whether if it is pre-installed, came from the downloadable content (DLC) car packs, or downloaded as a car mod from the Steam Workshop, using more than 4,000 car parts.
They can either sell it for additional profit and for future car projects, as well as added car parts and upgrades, or keep it as part of their garage collection.
They can also repair or restore different kinds of cars, ranging from classic Americana muscle cars to compact cars to sports cars to full-size sedans to hatchbacks to grand tourers to minicars.
One of the cars that are already available in the game is the Bolthorn Grand Mojave, or in real life, it is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Fourth-Generation mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) that was manufactured by Jeep under its Grand Cherokee line from 2010 to 2021.
How to Restore a Bolthorn Grand Mojave
Players can find and buy the Bolthorn Grand Mojave in the Junkyard, the Car Auction, and the Car Salon. Once they have purchased the SUV, they will wash the body and the interior in the Car Wash, and move it to one of the Car Lifts that are in the Garage.
From there, they will drain whatever oil that is remaining inside the engine using the Oil Drain machine, then they will drain the remaining fluids such as the brake fluid, the coolant, the power steering fluid, and the windshield washer fluid using the Drain Tool.
After they have drained the oil and the fluids, they will start disassembling the whole SUV, and get the parts that are needed to be repaired or replaced, until what is left on the Car Lift is the body frame, which they need to repair using the Wielding Machine.
Then, they will repair the parts they can still use in the restoration project by placing them on the Repair Tables that are in the Workshop. From there, they will play a minigame where they need to accurately hit the green tabs in order to fully fix the said parts.
They will also need to recharge the battery, if the SUV has one, by placing it on the Battery Charger, which is in the Garage.
On the other hand, the parts that cannot be repaired will be sold for additional Credits, which they can use to buy new replacement parts, or Performance Parts if they want to increase the SUV's Tuning percentage. If they bought the SUV from the Junkyard, they will also need to buy the parts that are missing.
Once they have the repaired and replaced parts, they can start reassembling the whole Bolthorn Grand Mojave, starting with building the engine, which is a V8 DOHC Supercharged. They can swap the said engine with a V8 DOHC AXK.
In order to build the said engine on the Engine Stand, according to Boblas' YouTube video, they will need the engine block, the crankshaft, the pistons with the rings, the crankshaft bearing caps, the rod caps, the oil pan, the oil filter, the flywheel, the clutch plate, the clutch pressure plate, and the clutch release bearing.
They will also need the engine heads, the camshafts, the spark plugs, the engine head covers, the ignition coils, the ignition coil covers, the exhaust manifolds, the intake manifold for the supercharger, the supercharger unit itself, the throttle, the fuel rails, and the fuel filter.
They will also need the alternator, the power steering pump, the cam gears, the timing belts, the timing cover, the water pump and pulley, the crankshaft pulley, the idler rollers, the serpentine belts, and the belt tensioner.
Once they finished building the whole engine, they will remove it from the Engine Stand, then they will put it inside the engine bay using the Engine Pulley.
Afterwards, they will install the SUV's internal parts such as the gearbox, the starter, the reservoirs, the battery, the ABS pump and module, the brake servo, the radiator with the fans, the ECU type A, the air filters with their base, cover and clips, the fuse box and cover with the new relays and fuses, and the fuel tank and pump.
Then, they will install the rest of the parts, including those for the exhaust pipes, the suspension, and the braking system, as well as the tires and rims, the body kit with the doors, the windshield and other glass panels for the windows, the lights, and the parts for the interior such as the steering wheel and seats.
Once they finished reassembling the SUV, they will fill up the engine, the brake servo, and the reservoirs with a new batch of oil and other fluids, then they will paint the body with the color of their choice in the Paint Booth.
Then, they will move it to the Test Path room to realign the tires and the lights, as well as to test the newly-installed braking system.
Then, they will move it to the Dyno Test room to tune up the gears in the gearbox and perform a dyno test to check the performance of the newly-built engine. Once they are satisfied with the results, they can now test drive their very own Bolthorn Grand Mojave.
