'Sea of Thieves' Reveals Roadmap for 2022, Newest Season will Begin this March

Rare revealed their plans for Sea of Thieves for 2022, which will be full of season premieres and updates that will add new content to the multiplayer online role-playing game.

The said new in-game content includes a possible year-long event where its players must solve and uncover mysteries in the game, new adventures that they need to take as they progress, and other additions such as playable sea forts.

A Year Full of Updates

As mentioned earlier, one of the additions that Rare will introduce in Sea of Thieves is the year-long mystery event. According to IGN, will be a new storytelling mechanic that will be taking place both inside and outside of the game.

Joe Neate, Sea of Thieves' executive producer, said that the additional in-game content would consist of stories that its players need to work together to uncover. As they unravel said mysteries, clues will be released that they can use, while they will be evolved as time goes by, adding more difficult for them to solve.

Another in-game addition that the developers will make in Sea of Thieves is sea forts, which, according to NME, will be one of the six new locations included in the in-game map.

These forts will offer players, especially those who are playing the game solo or formed smaller crews, opportunities to complete raids connected to the game's main storyline. They can also offer chances for them to do smaller-scale raids.

Once they are released, according to a post on the Xbox website, they will appear worldwide from the Sea of the Damned, and they will be guarded by Phantoms that patrol around it. As they enter said forts, they will battle the Phantoms and collect the keys to unlock several rooms to collect the loot inside.

Three new Adventures will also be included in Sea of Thieves for every update, which will begin in the game's Season Six. These Adventures, according to Polygon, will be full of story-driven live events that will occur on a monthly basis, and these will last for two to three weeks, with each one forming a chapter within an overacting narrative.

Mike Chapman, Rare's creative director, stated that each Adventure will be treated as a chapter in an episodic story that will always unfold. He also added that these would make them feel that the world within Sea of Thieves is bigger than they expected it to be.

Also included in each upcoming Season in the game are the new seasonal Plunder Passes that will have items that players need to unlock in order to get, as well as new missions for those who have reached the Pirate Legend status, including Voyages where its challenges will be changed every time they sail.

Season Six of Sea of Thieves will begin this March, while its Season SevenSeason Eight, and Season Nine will be launched in June, September, and December of this year.
