'Star Wars Eclipse' Is NOT Delayed, Quantic Dream Confirms

'Star Wars Eclipse' Is Not Delayed, According To Quantic Dream

"Star Wars Eclipse" developer Quantic Dream has come out to clarify that their game isn't exactly delayed.

TechRadar reports that the devs have surfaced to debunk rumors that "Eclipse" has been delayed an insane five years to 2027-perhaps one of the longest game delays in history. But a representative for the studio has stated that the delay doesn't really exist because they never even gave a release window for the game.

The statement of the representative is as follows:

"Star Wars Eclipse has not been delayed because Quantic Dream never announced or promised a launch window for the title. Recruiting remains active as it works on Star Wars Eclipse, third-party publishing, and unannounced projects."

So, "Eclipse" isn't technically delayed because the release window is unannounced. But perhaps the statement did fit well within the initial rumor, which cited that the reason for the "delay" was that Quantic Dream doesn't have enough developers to work on the game.

Earlier this month, GameNGuide reported the potential delay for "Eclipse" with the potential reason that the Quantic was struggling to get people on board. If you look at the Paris-based developer's Careers page, you can see that there are two full pages announcing openings for a wide variety of positions.

As of this writing, the studio just posted six new job openings calling for gameplay programmers, online backend programmers, senior game designers, audio directors, and senior body riggers. But if you look closer, a majority of the job postings have been published since February and remain unfilled.

Either way, you won't be seeing "Star Wars Eclipse" launch within the foreseeable future as it is clear that Quantic Dream is dealing with some matters of its own. Though they did say that they managed to increase their workforce by 50% in 2021 and reported "very good" financials, writes GamesRadar: perhaps an indication that material resources are at least not lacking.

What's Next For 'Star Wars Eclipse'?

After the initial reveal late last year and this recent update from Quantic, there's no telling what will happen next. The studio is quite mum on game details as of the moment, which, coupled with loads of job postings, could mean that the game is still in the early conceptualization phase.

There are some tidbits that were shown off in the reveal trailer, though. For one, it has been confirmed that the game's story will take place during the High Republic era, which is the "Golden Age" of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi, according to the official Star Wars website.

The game's story will reportedly be original and will feature unique new characters, who will each have their own abilities, roles to play, and story paths. The entire story will be "intricately branching" and allow players to fully differentiate their playthrough from others, all based on their decisions.
