'Hogwarts Legacy' Is Also Coming To The Nintendo Switch

'Hogwarts Legacy' Confirmed To Release On The Switch

"Hogwarts Legacy" was among the main attractions during the recently concluded Sony State of Play. New gameplay was revealed there for PlayStation consoles, but it is coming to far more platforms than you think.

Aside from current and last-gen Xbox consoles, the AAA RPG set in the Wizarding World is also coming to the Nintendo Switch. However, the confirmation didn't have as much fanfare as one might expect because it was only confirmed via a FAQ page, according to GameSpot.

The aforementioned FAQ, available on the official website for the game, mentioned the Switch alongside mainstream consoles. This is quite big because the game was originally only announced for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. But aside from the FAQ, publisher Warner Bros. has yet to issue an official statement.

Nevertheless, this could be great news for fans of Nintendo's handheld, which is still going strong at the midpoint of its life cycle-despite the hardware aging much faster than expected. But if you might think that this is just going to be a cloud release (just like what Nintendo did with "Control"), you're wrong.

The Switch version of "Hogwarts Legacy" looks to be native, as a seemingly official box art depicting the game has been spotted on Amazon. This has led to many fans wondering how in the world the game will run on the Switch, considering how good it looked during the State of Play reveal.

Here is the box art as uploaded on the game's Amazon listing:

"Legacy" will likely be the first major game set in the Wizarding World that's not mostly exclusive to smartphones. As such, there is a massive excitement surrounding the title, which is scheduled to release during Holiday 2022.

Everything Confirmed About 'Hogwarts Legacy' So Far

The game's State Of Play reveal was pretty extensive in terms of covering a lot of bases. It showcases many gameplay mechanics, including character creation, attending magic classes, dueling against enemies, and exploring a massive open world.

Players will inhabit the shoes of a new Hogwarts student, but not a freshman. Instead, they enter the wizarding school as a fifth-year pupil, which can control "ancient, powerful magic"--magic that enemies look to harness to destroy wizardkind. As made famous by the "Harry Potter" movies, players will also get sorted into the four iconic Hogwarts houses at the start of their journey: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. After that, things start to take off with players attending classes for recognizable subjects, including Charms, Potions, Herbology, and Defense against the Dark Arts. However, you won't meet a lot of familiar faces in the game since it is confirmed to be set in the 1800s. This is way before anybody recognizable from the "Harry Potter" movies pops up, which likely allows "Legacy" to tell its own story without worrying about the film or novel canon.
