New Indiana Jones Game From Bethesda Could Still Be An Xbox Exclusive, Says Latest Rumors

Bethesda's Indiana Jones Game Could Stil Be Exclusive To Xbox After All

The new Indiana Jones game from Bethesda and Lucasfilm, which was first rumored to not be exclusive to Xbox, might still turn out to be exclusive to Microsoft consoles (and PC) after all.

According to DualShockers, new rumors have emerged walking back on the initial claim. These rumors come from two industry insiders with relatively good reputations: Nick "Speshal_Nick" Baker of the Xbox Era podcast, and Jez Corden of the Xbox two podcast.

It was Corden who first said that the Indiana Jones game from Bethesda could still be an Xbox exclusive. He said that he knew that game won't be, but also said that he found out about that a long time ago - and that plans might have changed over time. Fellow insider Shpeshal_Nick then replied, saying in simple terms that he was "told it was exclusive."

Either way, it might make more sense for the untitled Indiana Jones game to be exclusive to Xbox - simply due to the fact that Microsoft owns Bethesda by virtue of purchasing Zenimax. Also consider that both Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 - perhaps two of the biggest upcoming games of the current generation - are also Xbox exclusives.

The game was first announced way back in January 2021 as a collaborative project with Lucasfilm Games. In an official blog post, Bethesda revealed that the game will have studio mainstay Todd Howard as its executive producer, and that it will be developed by MachineGames. These are the guys behind the award-winning Wolfenstein series.

Here's what Bethesda's Pete Hines (SVP of Global Marketing) has to say about the project:

"Todd is a lifelong Indy fan, and has been trying for over a decade to make this game. He's beyond excited to work with the award-winning MachineGames team, a perfect fit for Indy."

What Else Is Known About The Indiana Jones Game From Bethesda?

In truth, there's barely any other detail released about the game other than what has already been mentioned. However, Bethesda did release a short teaser for the game on Twitter which fans say might hold some clues - other than Indy's iconic hat and whip.

Here is the teaser:

The game will be the first title in over a decade ever since the release of the Lego Indiana Jones games, writes PCGamer. That game was LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, which was released during the PS3/Xbox 360 era. And as for the iconic fictional archeologist's original adventures, they date back to the mid-80s.

As of this writing, the only other information about the new Indiana Jones game from Bethesda is that it is going to be a standalone game set in 1937, which puts the game's events in between that of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, writes GamesRadar. There were also hints in the teaser that the game might be set in (or at least feature) Italy, which during that time was under the boot of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

Looks like Indy is going to get entangled with another European tyrant once more.
