You Can Customize Your Saints Row Character Now Before The Game Launches

The Saints Row Reboot Has Released Its Character Creator Early

The upcoming reboot of the Saints Row series isn't due until August, but players can actually already customize their characters ahead of time.

This can now be done via the Boss Factory Demo, which can be downloaded for free on the Epic Games store for PC, as well as the digital storefronts for PlayStation and Xbox. According to GameRant, the character creator itself presents a staggering number of customization options - something that's never been seen in any other game in the franchise until now.

But aside from letting players create their own Boss (what Saints Row calls its protagonist), the Boss Factory also allows folks to share their creation to the game's wider community via Share Codes. And once the Saints Row reboot launches on August 23rd, you can import the character you created in the Boss Factory demo into the game, getting two freebies while doing so: two helmets, according to IGN.

Developer Volition recently went into detail about just how deep the character customization options are in the upcoming Saints Row reboot. As reported by Polygon, players will have access to different body types which even includes prosthetic limbs, skin tones, and other things that go far beyond normal options like hairstyles.

Aside from that, people will also be able to use asymmetrical facial designs. For example, you can equip your character a lipstick smear on just one side, or a tattoo wherever you like it. It looks to be quite the robust system that people won't see in just any other game these days.

Here is the announcement trailer for the Boss Factory Demo, which showcases the depth of the customization options that can lead to very weird characters - basically a staple of the over-the-top, cartoonish open-world franchise:

The Saints Row Reboot will launch on last-gen and current-gen consoles, as well as PC via the Epic Games Store.

Trying Out The Saints Row Boss Factory Demo

GameNGuide recently got our own hands on the Boss Factory demo to see what it's all about, and Volition wasn't kidding when they said that this Saints Row character creator will let you become anyone you want.

We didn't go all out on the customization options this time around, but we did see just how deep things can get. For now, our character looks a little basic, as you can see: like a gym buff version of Sharon Stone from Basic Instinct:

Perusing the options, though, let us see how many there are. Aside from being able to change the basics (hairstyle, face, body type, skin tone, etc), you can also choose from an already wide range of outfits in the character creator. The outfit options are divided into five categories, for instance: head, upper, lower, feet, and full body - each category having their own multiple subcategories.

The same thing goes for everything else in the new Saints Row character creator. It really just allows you to play around with it as much as you want. With these options, one can see how people could spend literally hours just crafting their character when the game finally comes out. Maybe you could also completely recreate yourself in-game; outfit and all. The possibilities are insane.
