As reported by IGN, the classic games on the Sony PlayStation Plus Premium tier will be running at 60Hz in the region. This is a bit higher than what the games will run at in the PAL region, which is only 50Hz. For the unaware, PAL typically includes the European and Australian regions. All 13 PS1 games will be affected by this. Here's the list of games subscribers will have access to today:

  • Ape Escape

  • Hotshots Golf

  • Endochrome

  • IQ Intelligent Qube

  • Mr Driller

  • Oddworld

  • Jumping Flash

  • Sypohn Filter

  • Resident Evil Director's Cut

  • Wild Arms

  • Worms Armageddon

  • Tekken 2

  • Worms World Party

But as previously reported, only North American users get first crack at these games running at 60Hz, because they're getting the NTSC versions of these games. European users will get 50Hz games on June 22nd. But out of all the classic games coming to Sony PlayStation Plus, a few of them have some... issues.

According to VideoGamesChronicle, Resident Evil Director's Cut wasn't originally included in the service at all. Aside from that, games like the PSP title Resistance: Retribution is notably missing, while others such as Syphon Filter is only one of three games originally rated for inclusion.

Nevertheless, the service launches in North America first. Which classic PS1 games are you going to try out?

First off, let's start with inclusions. Sony PlayStation made it a point that the Premium tier will come with excellent goodies for long-time PlayStation fans. Here's what you can expect, as shared by The Verge:

  • Monthly PS4 and PS5 games from a 400+ title catalog

  • Online multiplayer access

  • Exclusive discounts on games

  • Cloud storage

  • Original PS1, PS2, PSP games, PS3 remasters

  • Time-limited game trials on the biggest games coming out

  • Original PS3 games streamed into your console via the cloud

  • Cloud streaming capability for PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games, which you can stream via a PS4, PS5, or PC

You'll get all of those perks of you shell out $17.99 monthly, $49.99 quarterly, or $119.99 yearly (via the Sony PlayStation blog). However, don't expect several of Sony's biggest AAA titles on the service just yet. That's because unlike its biggest competitor in Xbox Game Pass, the revamped PS Plus service won't be having Day One releases.

According to Sony PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan, Day One releases are something that they've never done in the past, because it will break the "virtuous cycle" of investments they have with their first-party studios (via TheLoadout). So don't expect games like Horizon Forbidden West or even God Of War Ragnarok on there.
