Warner Bros. confirmed that "Gotham Knights" is coming this October 25.

As reported by GameSpot, the gameplay sequence serves as some kind of tutorial teaching players the basics of Gotham Knights. The entire sequence follows the Prologue of the game, which developer Warner Bros Montreal is keeping tightly under lock and key. Nevertheless, the video starts by letting players choose which character they want to play from the get-go - this time, they choose Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl.

Here is the Gotham Knights gameplay video:

In there, you see Batgirl traversing Gotham University as she investigates the trail of a professor there. The gameplay showcases Gotham Knights' parkour and climbing system that looks reasonably smooth running on a PS5. Aside from that, Batgirl also shows off her grappling hook that helps her traverse wide open stretches. It looks like it takes cues from the grapple mechanics in the Batman Arkham games, which were pretty good.

Once Batgirl finds her way into the professor's office, the investigation gameplay begins. This is something that's extremely familiar to fans of the Arkham games, as reported by Push Square. Batgirl uses AR tech to examine clues to the murder, similar to Batman's Detective Mode - though it doesn't put an X-Ray filter on everything.

She then finds out that the professor is hiding a few "skeletons in his closet," then she goes out of the secret basement and into an area where the combat tutorial begins. This is followed by a stealth tutorial sequence where she sneaks up on assailants and takes them down from behind. It caps off in a boss fight against an enemy called a Bulldozer.

Warner Bros Montreal designed Gotham Knights as an action-RPG. But it looks to deviate from conventions in these games, which almost always start players off as weaklings. In this game, Batgirl, Red Hood, Robin, and Nightwing are already extremely skilled - and their progression sees them only getting even more powerful.

As reported by IGN, creative director Patrick Redding makes it clear that all four protagonists were "graduates of the Batman School of Crime Fighting." But while they already have their skills, their goal throughout the game is to stand up to the challenge of protecting Gotham now that Batman is gone.

The developers are also focusing on keeping the game balanced. Game director Geoff Ellenor says that they don't want the game to feel too easy, but also don't want it to feel too hard wherein a random bad guy will give players a hard time. Ellenor says that while there will be the generic, faceless goons, the game will also have several mini-bosses "that are decently strong" and will require skill to beat.

Gotham Knights launches on October 25th, and we'll be doing a review of it. So don't miss that!
