Players Can Grab a Free Copy of Assassin's Creed Syndicate on PC for a Limited Time

It seems like Ubisoft is in a generous mood lately as the company is giving out Assassin's Creed Syndicate for free on PC until December 6. Players can grab their copies by launching Ubisoft Connect and download the game from there.

Unfortunately, the free giveaway is only available to PC players, so those on consoles are out of luck. The company might make the same offer to those on Xbox or PlayStation, but that still remains to be seen.

Those who do not have Ubisoft Connect accounts can sign up for free on the company's official website.

About the Game

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is an action-adventure game set in London at the onset of the Second Industrial Revolution in 1868. In the game, players can choose between two protagonists: Jacob and Evie Frye. Jacob is more of a brash brawler, while Evie specializes in stealthy assassinations.

Game Director Scott Phillips said in a past interview that the setting allowed the development team to add more vehicles into AC: Syndicate. Players can choose to fight on carriages or use them as transport to go around the city.

Aside from that, the game introduced the Rope Launcher - a nifty device that allows players to reach high places quickly and easily. Those who have dreams of becoming the caped crusader Batman can somehow make that a reality by using the Rope Launcher in the game.

Players will also come across popular historical figures in the campaign, including Queen Victoria, Karl Marx, and Charles Dickens.

Among the many Assassin's Creed Games out there, Assassin's Creed Syndicate is the very definition of "mid." It currently has a user score of 6.9 out of 10 from the aggregate review site Metacritic.

Some players had a blast with the game's fluid parkour and movement mechanics. Another user said that the game is one of the best in the franchise in terms of combat gameplay.

Over on Reddit, Redditor @noelwym posted a lengthy review that highlighted the things that they liked about the game and those that they did not love at all. One of the things they pointed out was that players will always have something to do in Assassin's Creed Syndicate thanks to a wealth of side quests and activities. Furthermore, the game's economy is so much better than that of AC: Unity. Players have different equipment options to choose from and money is not hard to come by.

However, @noelwym said that the game's story was weak and that there was a clear lack of emotional stakes. If the plot was better, players would have cared more for the main protagonists.

While the narrative of the original game was mostly weak, the said Redditor praised the Jack the Ripper DLC for fixing the plot and introducing new mechanics that made the combat a bit more nuanced.

Community Reacts

What does the community say about Ubisoft's recent giveaway? Well, not many people are enthusiastic about it. User @SaiaKesani said on Twitter that they don't want to install another program just to grab the game for free. Another person has speculated that the company only did this as a way to divert the community's attention away from the recent in-game ad fiasco.

So, are you going to grab a free copy of Assassin's Creed Syndicate anytime soon?
