Destiny 2 'Season of the Wish" Now Live, Introduces New Weapon and Activities

Bungie has finally released "Season of the Wish" for its first-person shooter Destiny 2. There is a lot of new content to keep players busy until the game's next expansion, which is slated for release in June 2024. So, what does the new season have to offer?

New Activities

There are a couple of new three-man seasonal activities that Destiny 2 players can accomplish in Season of the Wish, all of which can be found in the Dreaming City. The first is called Riven's Lair and the second is known as "The Coil." Basically, the former is just a more casual version of the latter, however, they both give lucrative rewards.

Inside The Coil, players will find breakable objects that they can shoot, which contain some Fused Wishing Glass. This is a form of currency that they can spend on upgrades from an NPC named Spirit of Riven. The Taken form of "The Last Ahamkara" can be found at the center of the dungeon. The upgrades include faster ability recharge, increased damage while airborne, etc.

New Weapons

Players who were able to play the original game can obtain a very familiar weapon: The Dragon's Breath. This exotic rocket launcher looks the same as before, albeit with very different perks. The weapon can literally melt enemies thanks to its exotic perk, "Composite Propellant," where each rocket it fires embeds itself inside the target and then periodically ejects incendiary fuel that scorches nearby enemies.

Its other unique perk, High Octane, allows the Dragon's Breath to replenish its fuel by igniting nearby targets. Once the weapon reaches its maximum fuel capacity, it will reload itself automatically.

Those who purchased the Premium Battle Pass can get their hands on Dragon's Breath immediately after logging in. Just visit the battle pass page to claim it. Players who opted not to purchase the Premium Battle Pass need not worry as they can also acquire the weapon by reaching Level 35.

Aside from Dragon's Breath, another exotic weapon can be had later this season. There is a new mission called "Starcrossed" that will be launched on December 19. Players who successfully finish the mission will get the Wish-Keeper as a reward.

The Wish-Keeper is a Kinetic Strand Bow that has the useful "Snareweaver" exotic perk. Every time players deal precision hits or land final blows with this weapon, they build energy toward a Snareweaver Arrow. When fired, the arrow creates a pattern of traps on impact that suspends foes.

This is further enhanced by the Wish-Keeper's other unique perk called the "Silkbound Slayer," which allows players to deal bonus damage to suspended targets.

New Feature

Along with the release of Season of the Wish is the highly anticipated arrival of the Fireteam Finder. This is a new feature in Destiny 2 that allows players to create listings that other people can join in. It is essentially the game's version of "Looking for Group" in other multiplayer titles.

The Fireteam Finder can be accessed from the Director's "Roster" tab or its dedicated access point on every activity's launch screen.

Destiny 2 Season of the Wish is now live on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
