Grinding Gear Games has released a major update for Path of Exile just recently. Patch 3.23.1 brought many improvements, including those that affect the base game, as well as the Affliction League.

Improvements

The current league mechanic for Path of Exile: Affliction will have you enter a new area called the Viridian Wildwood. The portal to this zone is typically situated near the map's entrance. However, there were instances in the past where the entrance to the Viridian Wildwood could not be accessed because it would occasionally spawn on top of Legion reward chests.

The good news is that this has been resolved in Patch 3.23.1.Now, when you enter the Viridian Wildwood, you will come across new NPCs called the Azmeri Wanderers. Prior to this update, you will have to painstakingly search for them in the dark areas of the forest, which can be quite time-consuming. Fortunately, the Azmeri Wanders you have encountered in the past will now be marked on the minimap, thus making it easier for you to find them the next time you enter the Viridian Wildwood!

How about the base game? Well, a whopping 877 new Tier 17 Valdo's Map options have been added to the Valdo's Puzzle Box. For those who don't know, Valdo's Maps are maps that reward you with specific foiled unique items upon completion. However, completing such maps is easier said than done. That is because of the many modifiers the maps may come with. You should use a competent build if you are to accomplish any of the Tier 17 Valdo's Maps for sure.

Another noteworthy thing that was added to Path of Exile is the new "/reloaditemfilter" chat command. Simply put, initiating this command will reload your item filter. This is useful whenever there is a "loot explosion" that populates the screen with so many items, causing your item filter to crash as a result.

Bug Fixes

Patch 3.23.1 also resolved a myriad of issues in Path of Exile. For one, the new "That Which Was Taken" unique jewel no longer has a level restriction, which means that you can insert it into your passive tree as soon as you have access to an empty jewel socket.

In addition, the bug that caused the Inquisitor's "Sanctuary" notable ascendancy passive skill to sometimes fail in creating Consecrated Ground when stationary, has now been fixed in this update.

The full patch notes can be found on the game's official forums.
