Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection 3D Remake Coming to Consoles, PC

Indie developer Grimorio of Games has announced a 3D remake of the action RPG Sword of the Necromancer, titled Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection. The remake is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in 2024.

Originally a stretch goal for the sequel's Kickstarter campaign, the decision to release Resurrection before Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant allows for extended development time.

A Love Story in 3D

Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection follows Tama's quest to resurrect her deceased lover, Koko, using the forbidden powers of the titular sword. Remastered illustrations and new scenes with dual-language voice overs enhance the narrative.

The remake introduces an improved top-down dungeon-crawling experience with a new battle system, customizable AI for summoned monsters, the ability to resurrect defeated enemies, and local co-op.

Gameplay Enhancements and New Features

In addition to its upgraded visual elements, Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection introduces a revamped top-down dungeon-crawling experience. The game boasts a fresh battle system with improved combo mechanics, allowing players to customize the artificial intelligence of summoned monsters. Noteworthy features include the ability to resurrect defeated enemies and convert them into allies, as well as the inclusion of local co-op gameplay.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this remake lies in its connectivity with the upcoming sequel, Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant. Players who successfully conquer the challenges presented in Resurrection will unlock exclusive rewards in Revenant. These rewards include the unique opportunity to utilize bosses from Resurrection as special summons, providing an added layer of continuity and incentive for players to explore both titles.
